Sci Fi Drive-In

This restaurant offers quite a unique experience. You enter a large room which is set up like an old time drive in theater with old time cars and old time movies playing continuously throughout your meal.

The cars seat up to 6 people with room for 2 adults in each section. On this particular trip I sat upfront with my daughter and my husband sat behind us. There are some regular tables set up in the drive-in as well that almost resemble a picnic type set-up which is better to accomodate larger parties. There was another family of 2 that sat in very back of our car. My daughter hid during this photo. We sat in the front there for lunch.

Our server was very friendly and fun. My husband ordered a strawberry shake and my daughter just got water but our server talked us into getting her the tinkerbell toy with the drink which will set you back almost $6. Since it was dark it was a treat. It has a nice little clip to put on a backpack for later and it does have an on/off switch, but keep in mind as cute as this is the batteries cost even more to replace. So, you're better off just getting another one if you want to replace the batteries.

I then ordered the BLT soup which was a creamy tomato and basil soup with croutons, lettuce and bacon on top. It was so much better than any bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich I've ever had. It was delicious. It's making my mouth water just thinking about it!

For our main meals, my husband got the BBQ chicken sandwich which was somewhat on the dry side. I believe this is no longer on the menu. An Italian type of chicken sandwich has since replaced it. Maybe it's a little more tender. This one had to be drenched in BBQ sauce to help make the sandwich a bit more moist. The fries and onion strings were good (tough to go wrong with those)

I had the chicken caesar salad which was on the menu for a long time but has also been replaced wtih a new salad called the beef and blue salad. I suppose you can substitute chicken if you're not a meat person (but I'm not a blue person either so I don't think I'd go for the salad next time around). The caesar was ok, again, another victim to the "dry" chicken. Keep in mind these photos were taken with a flash. You cannot see your food too well here and I was not so surprised when I saw the burn marks on the chicken in the photo (but didn't see them when I was there) as it definitely tasted over cooked. The rest of the salad was good. The dressing was very good.

The kid's pizza was good. That wasn't overcooked as my daughter doesn't like anything crispy so we specifically asked for it to be "lightly" done. We would have asked for the chicken to not be too over cooked if we would have known, but then you have to be careful with chicken. As dark as it was in there it would be tough to tell if the chicken was slightly undercooked. Anyhow, my daughter really enjoyed this pizza. It was very cheesey and done "just right".

She also enjoyed her happy ending ice cream sundae which was just your basic scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and sprinkles.

This restaurant is worth a visit if you've never been here. It is a very neat experience. The food is ok. We visit every so often, as the menu changes but have never been "wowed" with any of their menu items other than the soup. It's really the atmosphere that is "wow" factor here.
