Boardwalk Resort

ESPN Club-Lunch

ESPN outside 1

The ESPN club is on the boardwalk located at the far east end of the Boardwalk resort. This is an easy resort to access from Epcot if you'd like to have lunch here it is a short walk away. You can even take the Friendship launch from Epcot but it is probably actually quicker to walk since it is located closer to Epcot. When you disembark from the boat you actually have to walk back towards Epcot to get to the restaurant.

On this day we headed in for lunch and only waited about 5 minutes to sit. Service was good and friendly. The restaurant wasn't too busy as there were just some hockey fans watching a game at the time, so keep in mind this is a typical sports bar atmosphere with a lot of cheering from dining guests:-)

It is a fairly large restaurant. During busy times you will see a line outside the front area. As you walk in there is a large bar area if you just want to grab a quick bite. We have also taken out from here in the past and it was pretty quick. There is a store with a variety of sports' merchandise attached.

We started with the Macho Nachos which were delicious. It was typical sports bar fare, nacho chips topped with chili, cheddar sauce, salsa and sour cream. We're wimps so we didn't include the jalapenos. I imagine that they would have had a much spicier flavor if we did include them. But, they were just to our liking.

I ordered the Championship Chicken Sandwich was is simply a grilled chicken breast with lettuce and sun dried tomato pesto and goat cheese on a Focaccia bun. I chose to put my pesto on the side and instead of fries I got the cucumber salad which was good. The chicken was tender and the pesto was quite tasty so it didn't need a lot. I think it would have been overwhelming if they put the amount they gave me on the side on the bun. The goat cheese adds a nice tang.

My husband ordered the Fish on the Bun Sandwich which is actually grilled mahi however he asked for his mahi to be blackened and they were able to do that. So, in the photo it looks burnt because it is blackened. The mahi was very tender and tasty with a nice spice to it. It was served on a whole grain roll with lettuce and tomato. He requested a side of ranch dressing which is a great sauce to use on a mahi sandwich rather than tarter sauce. It was served with french fries.

My daughter ordered the kids chicken nuggets and fries which were plentiful for a kids portion. On this particular visit they were done in a heavy breading and were crunchy, so if your kids don't like the breading or crunchiness to their nuggets I wouldn't order them. However, that being said I know WDW restaurants tend to change their chicken fingers and/or nuggets a lot. My daughter is very picky but she seemed to enjoy them.

It was served on a cute Mickey Mouse plate as many of the other childrens' meals are. It was finished with a nice chocolate cupcake which she enjoyed very much.

We have eaten here on other ocassions a few years prior to this visit and had taken food out as well. It is simple sports bar food but it's good and reasonably priced for those not on any of the dining plans. It is a fun atmosphere but can be somewhat noisy so if you have children that are sensitive to noise I wouldn't recommend it otherwise it's a great place to go to hang out, eat and watch a game or for a decent regular meal.
